Methodology
How the score is built.
Every score traces to stored answers. The formula combines how often a business is named, how often its website is cited, and where its name appears.
The three components
Mention rate
The share of answers that name the business, matched on the name and its aliases across spacing and punctuation. Counted over the answers the engines actually returned.
Citation rate
The share of answers whose sources include the business domain or a subdomain of it. A citation is a structured source the engine attached to the answer, matched on the host.
Average position
Where the business first appears among the businesses named in the same answer. Position one scores full credit and each later position loses 0.25, so fifth and below score nothing on this term. A brand that is never named loses both this weight and the mention weight.
visibility = 100 * ( 0.50 * mention_rate + 0.30 * citation_rate + 0.20 * position_score )
The overall score uses the answers received. Failed calls are excluded from the denominator and marked unavailable in the evidence.
How to read the result
AI answers vary between assessments. Each report measures the answers received at one point in time. Mention and citation rates describe that set of answers.
Compare assessments over time to examine changes. A single report does not establish a trend or guarantee future recommendations.
How detection works
Each answer is read once by a model that extracts the businesses named, in order, and marks which one is the target. That extraction is reconciled with an independent name match over the raw text. Either signal can mark a mention. The match can add a mention the model missed, and never removes one the model found, because a missed mention would tell a business it is invisible when it is not.
Domain citations are read from the source list the engine returned, never inferred from prose. When an engine cites nothing, the answer is reported with no citations rather than a guess.
Assessment coverage
The assessment covers business reputation, discovery, comparisons, and local recommendations. Provider identities and exact assessment wording remain private. Reports retain the measured findings, answer excerpts, and cited sources.
